about

This is a song about a Dayton bar called The Century Bar. It’s on Jefferson Street, if you’re ever in the area (which is a couple blocks from Rockathon World HQ). It’s known as a top-tier bourbon bar, but it has an old, funky vibe and lots of beers both high- and low-brow. There is an old hand-carved wooden masterpiece bar that was brought up from Cincinnati at some point. In Dayton, there are a lot of great bars you can just disappear into for a day. This is an ode to one of them.

lyrics

Century Cups

Up and up and up and out
Never did we learn what they’re about

Century Cups

So we drank them dry
In the saturated sundown
Climbed out of windows
Find my feet on the ground

Century Cups

Never did we once attempt to stay
With antiquated avalanches
In requisite replays
Hey hey hey

Century cups
