This song is a tribute to the spirit of GBV. The idea of the wider world catching on to your awesome band that rarely plays out, from a small market outpost far from the centre of the media universe, resonated with a guy from a small city in Canada (a flyover country?). The 6 pack-of-beer admission to the band room and the feeling of freedom shaking off the mundane and turning amps up really loud in a dingy rehearsal space is reason enough to keep on doing it. Bob and GBV proved you didn’t have to be young and from New York or LA to have people hear and love your music.
