about
When asked to contribute to this project, I was sitting on the first two lines of the song for a while. Eventually I thought I would borrow some words from Bob and splice them together into a song. I normally write the lyrics first before I write the music; however, I had the music all set first. I wanted it to sonically remind people of GBV. I think the band and I nailed that part of the project. Also, this is the first recorded song with the new lineup of the Affiliates since I moved from Vermont to Chicago. I hope years from now that people debate which is better: the classic lineup of PY&tA’s or the new lineup of PY&tA’s—like the band we all know and love.
lyrics
You are a giant
I guess wishes come true
We are compliant
All of us hot freaks wanna be you
Come all you glad girls and you robot boys
Take your gold stars and love the lo-fi noise
The club is open, it’s the golden rule
We’re finally here, and shit yeah it’s cool
We’re finally here, and shit yeah it’s cool
Cardinals in jars
Freedom quite sinful you
Send Christmas cards
Father, sergeant, we’re all in Bob’s crew
Join in the fight and grab your space gun
Vote for me, dummy, it’s a vote for fun
The club is open, it’s the golden rule
We’re finally here, and shit yeah it’s cool
So lend me your ear, and don’t be a fool
We’re finally here, and shit yeah it’s cool
Or something like that…
